As You Like It Revision
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players”(Shakespeare). The play As You Like It is a play written by William Shakespeare and was recently acted out by Shakespearience. The actors came to Valley High School and performed an amazing play. They acted pretty well even if they only had six actors and twelve characters.
The characters, names are Rosalind, Ganymede, Orlando, Celia, Aliena, Oliver, Duke Sr, Silvius, Duke Frederick, Phoebe, Adam and a wrestler remains nameless. All the characters where acted out really well, but my favorite one has to be Rosalind. She’s a strong, brave girl who doesn’t give up. I do have to have a least favorite character, which is Oliver. I didn’t really like how he wanted to kill his own brother in the beginning. This brings me to my favorite scene, which is when Rosalind and Celia start dressing up to be different people, and that’s when Rosalind becomes Ganymede and Celia becomes Aliena. There was a scene that I didn’t really like, which was when Oliver tried killing his brother by making him wrestle with one of the best wrestlers out there. They all had different style costumes, but they all fell in the 80’s theme.
All the costumes were unique in there own way, but they all reflected the personality of the character. I do have a favorite costume, which has to be Ganymede’s costume; it’s just crazy how Rosalind changed into a boy so fast. I do have a costume that I really didn’t like, and it was Aliena because all she did to change into a new person was put on a sweater and, to me, she still looked like Celia. The theme and the costumes were a really great fit.
An 80’s theme may be hard to pull it off, but I personally think that the actors did an amazing job. I wasn’t really expecting an 80’s theme, but I really did enjoy seeing it in the play and how the actors acted and the music they played.
In conclusion, I’m glad I got to experience the Shakespearian actors and how they performed a happy, funny, and lovely play. I would totally watch another play and most likely enjoy it if I do say so myself.
